To what extend can sex cure cold?

Sexual intercourse between man and woman is about the most booming practice in the World, with people indulging in it for business, leisure, past time, cope with depression and procreation.

Every second , just as you read this , hundreds of millions of men across the World, are in their corners screwing their female partners in the most intimate relationship also known as, “ muscle-2-muscle show".

Evidence of large volume of sexual intercourse occurring daily across the globe, can be seen from the astronomical rise in World population , which is expected to hit, over 9 billion by 2050, a figure meaning that humans may well be competing in size with grasses.

But beyond all the pleasure, child-bearing and money making and even acceleration of diseases, that sex brings, one vital aspect of sexual intercourse is that of managing cold weather.

It is a belief in this part of the World that sexual intercourse to a large extent helps to drive cold.

From Igbo to Yoruba, Hausa to Efik, and just any other tribe in Nigeria, people perceive sex as cold killer.

They even think that the role of sex in managing cold , “perhaps explains why many couples seem to be at peace during hamattan and very  raining period, so that they can help each other.

With the persistence of cold in Lagos , Nigeria, we in Environment Track has tried to dig into this World of SEX to actually find out , “just to what extent can sex cure cold?”

In our search , we found  that “Sex is not only too good to effectively control common cold, but also helps for fighting cancer, among others  ”.

During sexual intercourse, the up and down movement of man while screwing his sex mate, is a healthy exercise, which increases blood circulation , thus forcing sweat out of the body, however cold the weather is. Besides sexual activity, body contact between together-lying mates , helps to keep the two warm.

According to a researcher, “making love could be one of the few pleasures in life that is genuinely good for you.

Not only does a healthy sex life boost mood, but there is growing evidence to show it boosts your physical well-being, too  -  from increasing longevity to reducing the risk of erectile dysfunction and even heart attack.

Recently, researchers at Nottingham University concluded that men who kept up a regular sex life in their 50s were also at lower risk of developing prostate cancer.

But how much of sex is healthy?

While sexual intercourse is seen as good for you, over-doing it has its own consequences.

“More than 20 times of sex in a month is considered risky for men between  20 and 30 years”, so says a report.

In fact, the research seems to suggest that men  -  particularly older men  -  benefit the most from healthy effects of sex. Feel-good hormones help explain some of the benefits, such as mood-boosting, but the explanation is not always obvious.

But one thing is clear, and this applies to both men and women: you need to be having sex regularly if you don't want to lose the ability.

'Use it or lose it' was the advice given to older men by Finnish scientists recently.

They had followed 1,000 men aged between 55 and 75 for five years and found that those who had sex less than once a week at the start of the study were twice as likely to develop erectile dysfunction (see below) as those who had it at least once a week.

Those who had sex three or more times a week lowered their risk fourfold.

As women get older their oestrogen levels drop, says Dr Peter Bowen-Simpkins, consultant gynaecologist at the London Women's Clinic and spokesperson for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

This hormone is key to a woman's sexual enjoyment  -  lower levels can make sex uncomfortable, he explains.

But American research found that menopausal women who had sex every week had oestrogen levels twice as high as their abstaining counterparts.

Note: Environment Track by this write up, is only fulfilling our core mandate to appropriately inform and educate our readers; not in any way support or promote promiscuity.
We implore every matured man to stick only to one faithful partner while unmarried people should abstain from pre-marital sex as that is the healthy thing to do.
