The
alert of imminent flood disaster in Nigeria, similar to that in
2012, compounds the worry of Lagos residents, most of who think that
weather has not been fair to them this year.

Since
July, rainfall seized in Lagos State, escalating cold which has left many
residents with cold weather diseases including rheumatism.
There is also anxiety among residents that the long seizure of rainfall at a time when it should be raining heavily, could give rise to devastating consequences including worsening hunger, and diseases.
What seems like the short dry season in between rainy popuarly called "August Break" because it usually comes in August, arrived much earlier this year in July, and since then , the dry weather pesists.
"This would be the first in many years that August Break would come in July," so many remarked.
A man in Ketu , Kosofe Local Government Area, Theophilous Okeke, Kosofe laments, "i know of 4 to 5 people in my neighbourhood that are having serious rheumatic pains due to the cold. Even me, am not finding it easy".
"What kind of weather is this?'' , A director in a media house in Ikoyi asked while lamenting the harsh weaher. She continued, " It is so cold, and that is why many people are now putting on sweater just to avoid contacting cold. Indeed the climate has really changed. Imagine August break came in July and since then , it is still dry. Does it mean the rains have stopped just like that? May God help us".
In Ikorodu Area, another women, Esther said, " I think i am enjoying the weather. It is so cold, so i sleep well at night.
"For sometime , power supply to us has been so epileptic, but with the cold weather, one can still sleep well".
The woman added that parents should however protect their children by covering them properly.
"It is good that the cold came when schools are on vacation.
"At least, parents will be able to care for the children and protect them against cold that leads to pneumonia".
Our Correspondents who have been monitoring the situation reports that most respondents expressed deep worry
and concern over the seizure of rainfall in the
state.
