Suspected Female Thief Shamed in Banking Hall with a Tag 'I Am a Thief'

The management of the Kenya Commercial Bank on Thursday, caught a woman identified as Nancy Wawira Muthoni, after stealing money from a customer’s bag in a Ruiru banking hall and paraded her across other banks in the town with a neck tag boldly written “I am thief. Mimi ni mwizi.”
 
A Police official, Isaac Thuranira told Nairobi News that the woman who has since been taken into custody as police search for her accomplices who were captured in the bank’s CCTV footage, will be arraigned in court on Monday.

“We are still looking for two other male accomplices who escaped as she was not alone during the incident,” said Thuranira.
 
Amos Amoh who shared the incident on social media, warned clients to be careful while carrying out end-of-the-month and school reopening transactions.

“Happening now at KCB Ruiru. I have just taken the above photo of this thief! The cctv shows they are working in a group of three but the other 2 hv escaped! She had stolen 5k from a lady’s handbag as the owner filled the deposit slip. Pls warn friends n relatives to be careful , especially now when banks are busy with parents paying school fees,” he wrote.
