African Women Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Network (AWWASHNet) is the latest organisation to join in the protest against what has been variously termed "the wickedness of a government to inflict suffering on the masses by privatising water", considered the most essential commodity to man.

A member of the protesting group, Mrs.Vickie Njoku Onyekuru, who is an executive of an NGO reported the protest.
She wrote; "African Women Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Network (AWWASHNet) rally against water privatization in Lagos. We say no to water privatization. Water is free gift of nature - it is our Human right.
Privatization of water will further impoverish families".
The protesters carry placards with various inscriptions, including , "Our water, our right, no to PPP".
Many organisations have protested in the past against the privatisation of Lagos State Water Corporation, but so far, government has paid deaf hear.
Lagos State government has commercialised virtually all essential services , including healthcare, thus making the state difficult for the people to live in.
