Dozens of Lagosians cheat death as truck fails brake at Obalende

Dozens of people today cheated death when a truck carrying iron and steel materials failed break at the  Obalende junction around 1pm today.

The truck was descending the bridge that is directly opposite the Oando filling station, and many people including those crossing to join the BRT buses , where on the road at that time.

However, as God would have it, the truck diverted and hit the concrete culvert , which waged it.

While some of the people who would have been killed were left dumfounded, others said there were thankful to God for sparing their lives.

"See how we would have just been killed. Many of us were here", (pointing at the road).

"I just shifted my car a few minutes ago only for the accident to occur".

"I thank God for sparing my life”; one of the survivors said.

Some of the onlookers said it was a lesson for people to always be vigilant while on the road, and desist from staying in the middle of the road.

“This is a lesson. Sometimes you see people in the middle of the main road walking gently and discussing. It is not right. Even if you want to cross the road, do it speedily because a car could be coming. Even on the side of the road, one has to be vigilant because a car can fell break as we just saw today”.

Some KAI officials witnessed the accident and were seen taking the snap shot of the vehicle.
