Is it "As backward as Abia State?"

School children climb wall to navigate bad road in Abia State

The picture above reveals the terrible state of a section of the road, an indication of how far the government is to the people.

As can be seen, the road is not only completely feather but also water logged, so school children are climbing a wall just to pass through since their road is impassable.

Such could be the fate that has befallen the children of Abia State, as that picture was reportedly taken in a town in Abia State, where majority of the road networks, and other types of infrastructure are in sorry-state.

Large gullies and muddy surfaces on Bende-Arochukwu road, threatening lives of people from about 100 villages on that axis.
Bende-Arochukwu road is the shortest and easily accessible road linking most farming settlements in Abia State, and also linking Abia directly with Cross River and Akwa Ibom States at the Arochukwu end.

Abia is widely seen as the most neglected and about the most backward State in Nigeria.

Aba is known as the Japan of Africa because of the great ingenuity, creativity and technological abilities of people there.

Abia is also seen as a state where government has done virtually nothing to enhance its internally generated revenue.

Instead, its meager allocation from Federal has reportedly been grossly looted by past Governors and their cronies, even family members.

Power tussle among the political class in the state leaves an atmosphere of uncertainty and fear all year round in Abia State.

Consequently, the state never witnesses the provision of new infrastructure while the ones provided  when the state was still under Imo State, are in sorry state due to lack of maintenance.
