Residents of the small riverside community of Barranca are worried about the environmental impacts of the oil spillage in their land a few days ago.
They also fear that they may not be employed in the
clean-up of the spills.
Residents
who helped block the spill's advance the night of June 24 say they saw oil
several kilometers down the ravine below the point where the Northern Peruvian
Pipeline broke.
Government environmental oversight body has put the spill at 600 barrels.
