Despite
the assurance that early detection was important to manage HIV, most Nigerians
are afraid to be tested positive to the virus.
Their
fear is borne out of the fact they could face stigmatization by people who know
about their status, the reason many are afraid to present themselves for HIV
test.
According
to a poll by a research and investigation portal via sms, known as U-Reporter,
69 percent of people interviewed said there were afraid to be tested positive
to HIV.
