A former Minister of Foreign Affairs and a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, is dead.
He died at about 7pm yesterday at a hospital in Abuja.
Chief Maduakwe who is from Ohafia,
Ohafia LGA of Abia state and a PDP strongman in the State, reportedly was returning to Nigeria from the U.S. when he fell
ill.
His was recent appointment the secretary of the PDP Board of Trustees.
Reacting the chairman of the BoT,
Walid Jibrin, said Mr. Maduekwe died at a time his services were most
needed.
Jibrin who spoke from Saudi Arabia stated that Chief Maduakwe "passed on at a critical time when we needed him most. I was
waiting for him to come back from U.S. where he traveled to so that we
can find a way of addressing the problems in the party,”.
He died at the age of 71.
