Mudslide as a result of heavy rainfall has reportedly occurred today in the Agidingbi area of Ikeja, Lagos killing at least one person.

The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Emergency Agency, LASEMA, Mr. Adebayo Kehinde told Radio Nigeria, that he received a call about the incident and had gone to the scene to arrest the situation.

Kehinde broke information about the mudslide incident around 11;30 am when Radio Nigeria called him  to give an update of how the agency was responding to the flood disaster.

“Can you call me back in 30 minutes time? We have an emergency. There is a mudslide around Agidingbi. Somebody died there. I am rushing there now”, he said.

The LASEMA PRO, promise to adequate brief Radio about the mudslide incident and other issues, when he returns from Agidingbi.
It is nearly 48 hours of non-stop rain in Lagos State, and the sky is still heavy.

Communities in riverine areas including Majidun in Ikorodu , Agility in Kosofe Local Government and many areas of Lekki are submerged , with the flood waters reaching the roof top of many houses in some places.

Thousands of people are seen roaming about with heaps of their personal belongings dotted on road sides, because the flood has rendered them homeless.

In Ikorodu, the popular Igbogbo road where a WAEC Office is located has been closed, after a section of the road around the Cemetery area was submerged.

Following the incident, the cost of transportation has increased by 100 percent, because commercial vehicles now follow a longer route.
